There are literally millions of bicycles in Beijing. Literally.

And thousands of local repair shops.

Many of these shops are simple roadside stands, little mom and pop operations, where a flat tire is fixed while you wait - for less than 50 cents.

But as the city expands and incomes grow, so does the demand for bikes with a little more zip.

The Star's Scott Simmie hit the streets (thankfully not literally) with a camera to explore the cycling side of Beijing life.
