A man was Tasered by police in the lobby of an apartment building in the Toronto's north end this evening.

Security notified police that a knife-brandishing man was smashing windows in the lobby of the apartment building on San Romanoway, near Jane St. and Finch Ave., at around 5 p.m.

When the police emergency task force arrived on the scene a man, who was bleeding severely from apparent slash wounds, refused to comply with the officers and was Tasered, said Staff Sgt. Bob Skinner.

The man was taken to hospital where he was being treated for knife wounds to the arms and body. Despite losing a lot of blood, the man's injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.

Police believe that an altercation had occurred on the seventh floor of the apartment building, and three men have since been arrested in connection to the incident.

They are being questioned about the role they may have played in the man's injuries, said Skinner.

No charges have been laid at this time.
