KINGSVILLE–A woman from Leamington is being hailed as a hero after she helped pull a victim from a burning car after a highway accident.

The crash happened Saturday morning after a vehicle ran a stop sign on Highway 3 in Kingsville and slammed into a transport truck.

Alissa Douglas, 29, was driving home when she saw the wreckage.

She and the driver of the truck, Jody Rumble, 47, of Chatham, pulled the driver of the other car from the fiery wreckage.

Goran Cavic, 29, remains in critical condition in hospital.

Provincial police are recommending Douglas and Rumble for a bravery award.
