Re:Bill C484 is Trojan horse at gates of women's rights, Living, Aug. 11

Lorraine Sommerfeld's column makes some interesting assertions, like how MP Jake Epp's Bill C-484 "massages the language to create `unborn victims'." This is incorrect. Criminals create unborn victims, not Epp's words.

She states that if the bill passes, the fetus will be recognized as a person. Wrong again. The bill makes no such assertion.

Next she says, "Epp is aboard a Trojan horse and he's fiercely attempting to ram the wooden decoy through the gates of women's rights." This is not the case. Bill C-484 protects women's rights. It makes it a criminal offence to harm an unborn child; a child that a woman has chosen to keep.

The bill has nothing to do or say about abortion. Women in Canada currently have unrestricted access to abortion. This bill will give woman who have chosen to not have an abortion additional protection by law.

This law protects women's rights. It is a pro-choice bill.
