I totally agree with the Conservative government's proposed elimination of subsidies for political parties and plans to crack down on lavish spending by government mandarins and bureaucrats. I believe it is undemocratic to force taxpayers to support political philosophies that they disagree with. If they do not have enough supporters and donors willing to help finance their election campaigns, is that not evidence that their ideologies are not appealing to enough people ?

In the recent U.S. federal election, Barack Obama did not accept available federal funding for his campaign but had far more financial resources available to him because of his huge public appeal.
