End minimum withdrawals

Re:Flaherty's disastrous
fiscal plan, Nov. 29
I agree with the letter writer. What's the point in allowing a 25 per cent reduction in a registered retirement income fund (RRIF) withdrawal for 2008 when 90 per cent of my withdrawal has already been made for 2008?
The minimum withdrawal should be eliminated entirely. The loss in revenue cannot be that substantial and would enable retirees to withdraw only what they need.
As it stands now it is necessary to sell assets at a huge loss to meet the minimum, which increases every year.
